FAQ'S

  • What is the history of the Australian Shepherd?
Australian Shepherds, commonly known as Aussies, were originally bred in the western United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries for herding livestock such as sheep and cattle. They quickly became popular for their intelligence, loyalty, and versatility. Today, Aussies are highly sought after as family pets, competition dogs in sports such as obedience, agility, and herding trials, and as service animals due to their innate physical and mental abilities.
  • What is the temperament of the Australian Shepherd?
Australian Shepherds are known for being loyal, intelligent, and energetic. As working dogs, they thrive in environments that stimulate their minds and give them a chance to run and play. Though they are affectionate with their owners, they can be reserved around strangers. It's important to provide proper training and socialization to ensure they are well-behaved in all situations. Camas Valley Aussies is dedicated to breeding Australian Shepherds with exceptional temperaments that make them great family pets and working dogs. We strive to produce happy, healthy, and well-adjusted puppies that will fit into a variety of lifestyles.
  • How are big are standard (full-size) Aussies full grown?
Standards are 18-23″ tall to top of the shoulder and weigh 40-65 lbs.
  • Are the puppies vaccinated when I pick them up?
Yes, the puppies will have their first shots, 6-8 weeks. They will need their 10-12 week and 16-18 week shots after you bring them home.
